Alberta Family Vacations

My family grew up in Alberta and I have hundreds of memories of beach (lake) vacations, mountain vacations, and camping so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to take my kids on a vacation there. And from all accounts, I think my kids enjoyed it even more than I remember!
I would HIGHLY recommend a beach vacation in almost any part of the province. Some of my favourites include Waterton National Park to the south (National park which sits on the Alberta, BC, and USA (Montana) border), anywhere in Jasper and Banff to the west, Pine Lake in the central/north, and Fawcett Lake to the north.
Of course, these are just a sampling of hundreds of possibilities in Alberta. There are many lakes that rent not only campsites and trailer stalls, but also have small cabins/cabanas for rent.
There are also many RV/trailer rental locations throughout the province, so you can get yourself fully outfitted for a week, all for a price much lower than renting a hotel. This really is one of the greatest places in the world to explore the outdoors, paddle up a stream or river, raft back down, lie on a beach, climb canyons, hike mountain passes, river raft, bungee jump... The list goes on!
Also, for a true highlight be sure to hit up Drumheller and the great Tyrell Museum (it must be the best dinosaur museum on earth), spend a few days at West Edmonton Mall - waterpark, amusement park, skating rink, mini golf, submarines, sharks, dolphins, bungee....... This is truly a family vacation for everyone!
