treated to guided scuba dives with top-of-the-line equipment at depths ranging from 30 to 90 feet. Certified divers may dive twice a day; non-certified divers can take a $70 three-hour resort course, which is conducted in a separate scuba certification pool. Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) and National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI) certification is also available for an additional charge. Beaches has also created optional Dive Programs just for kids, including the Bubble Maker and Seal Team swimming programs for 8-9 year olds, as well as the National Geographic “Passport to Adventure” PADI dive program for guests 10 years or older.
Snorkeling–Guests who want to experience marine life and coral reefs up-close without having to scuba dive can enjoy any (or all) of the three to five snorkeling trips offered daily at most Beaches Resorts watersports locations.
Glass-bottom boat rides – Guests can explore the mysteries of the sea while staying dry in a glass-bottom boat. (Available at most resorts)
Waterskiing – For the ultimate aquatic workout, guests in Negril can try waterskiing with top of the line equipment including Mastercraft ski boats, O’Brien skis, and kneeboards. Waterskiing lessons provided daily.
Sailing – For the most relaxing way to enjoy the sparkling Caribbean water and Beaches Resorts watersports, guests can take off for a cruise aboard a Sunfish sailboat. Sailing lessons are offered at all properties.
Catamarans – These special sailboats require some skill, but once guests get the hang of it, they will be hooked.
Windsurfing – Guests can try their hand at windsurfing aboard a Hi-Fly “Spirit,” or “Nova” craft, or an O’Brien “Sensation” craft. “Fanatic” beginner boards and sails are also available at most properties.
Kayaking – For guests looking for a peaceful way to enjoy the Caribbean sea, kayaks are available at most properties.
Aquatrikes – Kids, or kids at heart, can ride two-at-a-time on Aquatrikes, over-sized tricycles that operate in the water.
Banana Boats – Available at Beaches Negril, Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort and Beaches Sandy Bay. Guests of all ages get a thrill when they hop on a banana boat.
Pirate’s Island – Currently at Beaches Turks & Caicos and Beaches Negril, the Pirate’s Island waterparks offer fun in the Caribbean Sun, with water slides, lazy rivers, zero entry areas for toddlers and water cannons. At Beaches Boscobel, a comprehensive and expansive new Pirate's Island Waterpark opened in Fall 2007, featuring six new kiddie slides - including one "group" slide - plus three slides for teens and adults: one tube slide, one body slide and one speed slide. The waterpark also features a Pirate-themed kids zone with a zero entry area for toddlers. Additionally, the Pirate’s Island at Beaches Turks & Caicos is set to be expanded in 2009 to ten times its original size, and include a new lazy river, a total of nine slides and a surf simulator. All are great choice for a family beach vacation.
