How To Build A Web site With No Regrets

You might not have any computer experience or are not sure of how to even get started. If this is the case, then just have a listen to my story on how I got started building websites without knowing a whole lot about programming, html and web site design.

On the other hand, if you already have a website and are looking for ideas to improve your site, I am going to give you some great information and free downloads that I know you will find invaluable.

Let me first tell you my story starting from a couple a years ago. I worked as a travel agent and in the transportation industry for over 10 years. In doing so, I gained a lot of knowledge in that field.

The trouble was, that knowledge really benefited my employers but I felt kinda of stuck in place. My son was growing older and I really wanted to have the freedom to spend more time with him (before he became a snarly teenager!) and also have the extra money to be able to take him places around the world.

I knew I needed to do something that would provide an extra income (without getting a second job!) And I wanted to use the knowledge I already had (and not have to go back for more education!)

Everyone has knowledge about something - whether it is related to your job or a hobby such as cooking or photography or the stock market. My passion and interests happen to lie in travel. Easy to spend money on travel but how would I make money from it???

So I spent months researching how to go about it, how to make money from this passion. The internet had lots of information, probably too much. There were a lot of scams out there and I did not believe most of the promises. I am usually sceptical by nature and I don’t trust things right off the bat, especially when they are after my money :)

Building a website kept coming up as the logical choice for a home based business but I was not sure if it was the best option.

I thought building a website would be a daunting task. I knew my way around computers but I did not really have advanced technical skills. How would I know which web host to use? How would I know how to set up my pages so my site looked great? I started looking at various programs, reading about different internet gurus and all I got was confused!!!

Out of the blue, my husband was downsized out of a job. He had unemployment benefits for several months and then those ran out too. It turns out my second income from my SBI site turned from a “nice to have income” to a life saver.

With this extra income, we were able to keep ourselves afloat until he started working again. Whew - if I had not started that SBI site, we would have been left in much worse shape financially, I guess I “discovered” SBI at just the right time. In my busiest month, I had over 40,000 people visit my site!

Currently, I am working on my third SBI website and this year I can afford to take the summer off from my day job and hang with my son. I have surpassed the monthly income from my day job and am working towards building websites as my full time occupation.

I am sooo excited at this prospect of being able to wake up in the morning, pour myself a cup of coffee, read some emails, check my stats. Then maybe walk the dog, come home work on my sites for the afternoon and be there when my son gets home from school.
