Mexico Hurricane Wilma - What's Open?

The largest amount of damage from Mexico hurricane Wilma was in fact to the Cancun Hotel Zone and despite a number of preliminary assessments that have made their way on to a variety of web-sites, a full and accurate damage report is difficult to get.

The Cancun Convention and Visitor Bureau "estimates" that the hotel zone's 27,500 rooms have been affected as follows after Mexico hurricane Wilma :

5200 rooms to re-open by Nov.4
8700 to be operational by Nov.25
15,800 to be operational by Dec.15
16,800 to be operational by Dec.23
20,900 to be operational by Jan.15, 2006.
It should be noted that these are preliminary estimates only - the actual number of available rooms to be open at a given time are subject to change depending on final damage/risk assessment of Mexico hurricane Wilma .

Puerto Morelos and the Mayan Rivera resorts south of Cancun have initial damage reports ranging from minimal to extensive.

Reports for Cozumel after Mexico hurricane Wilma are too vague and incomplete to warrant listing at this time.

Cancun Airport – Normally Operating

Wedding organizers - Operating

Archaeological sites – Open

Water, electricity and phone services are working in every establishment

All the roads are accessible in the hotel zone and down town.
