As eternal as the Atlantic is the average vacationer's attraction for the golden sands as summer comes around with pleasant promises of sunshine and holidays. Family beach vacation destinations are to be found strewn all along the Atlantic coast in the USA. Our family has been to tons of beaches in the US and we have not even scratched the surface!

Florida can't be beat when it comes to USA family beach vacations. It's not just about frolicking in the water and getting sand in all the wrong places. There's Fort Lauderdale with its fabulous water taxis, ghost tours, and a variety of water sport from deep sea fishing to wind surfing. Vero Beach offers wild life such as turtles and pelicans, besides, sunken treasure, and moonlight boat trips. Cocoa Beach holds surf camps for kids as young as six. Watch the dolphins do their thing at the spectacular Crescent Beach or go on a shrimp boat cruise. Hutchinson Island would have to be the perfect family beach vacation destination if you're travelling with very young kids.

Further south, family beach vacations in the USA take you to Kure Beach in North Carolina. Visit historic ruins, the Aquarium featuring sharks and other awesome marine life, and throw a line at the Fishing Pier. South Carolina is not far behind in terms of entertainment. Myrtle Beach is where the action is and it's also where you get to go golfing. Just make sure the kids get to sample from a huge variety of mini-golf courses first. Enjoy the offerings of the Alabama theatre, the House of Blues, and the Family Kingdom Amusement Park among others.

Virginia Beach, famous for its Boardwalk has more to offer in the form of the battleship Wisconsin, Marine Science Museum, and an Airspace Centre. Georgia is where your family vacation takes on an old world charm and a decidedly slow pace, as wide open spaces and stunning scenery join to enchant your senses. Brunswick Golden Isles, Jekyll, and all those other fabulous islands offer plenty for you to enjoy on your family beach vacation.

On the western coast along the Pacific, there are the fabulous beaches of California that adds enormous excitement to the itinerary on any USA family beach vacations. Santa Barbara has a Family Vacation Centre that incorporates all sorts of sports and other activities for kids, taking them off your hands and leaving you free for some wine tasting, kayaking, or even uninterrupted reading. San Diego offers many beaches, each with its own unique brand of fun. The Coronado Beach would have to be the most popular, especially if you want to catch a glimpse of the Navy SEALS in action. Boys in particular love this, go figure!
